Staghills Nursery School

A place where children lead the learning

The Willow Room  (2 to 3 years)

Each child will have their own keyworker, who is the person that helps those children in the group feel safe and cared for.

The keyworker holds responsibility for those children within their keyworker group; meaning that they will know the most about that child and hold a special relationship with them, they will liaise and build a relationship with the child’s parents, they are responsible for ensuring that the child is making progress within their learning, and for ensuring that the child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs.

During their time in the Willow Room, we provide children with as many appropriate opportunities as possible through a play-based approach for children to engage in sensory activities as well activities which help develop their personal, social and emotional skills, their communication and language skills and physical development; known as the prime areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage.

These skills  are really important at this early age  and can help support the process of lifelong learning, by focusing on these areas we support children's  transition for the move into our provision for 3-4 year olds. Children are given opportunities at every turn to build relationships with other children and staff. We support children in their ideas and theories and in their exploration and experimentation, staff tune into children and support them in their play .

Our environment is carefully planned out with much thought given to this. it has been developed to provide a warm, nurturing, homely space in which your child can thrive and develop. We provide lots of sensory play and children access the riverbed area and the allotment area over the year and we involve children in large scale experiences to support learning in the prime areas.
