A place where children lead the learning
We are a local authority Nursery School and Childrens Centre that provides exciting and caring learning opportunities for children from 0-5 years old.
Staghills Nursery School opened in 1955. We were designated as a Children’s Centre in February 2006 and after extensive alterations to the building, we now have a modern setting to offer a wide range of services to meet the needs of our local community. We continue to develop our centre and from September 2015 the nursery school will take children eligible for Free Early Years Education from the age of two years old.
As a local authority nursery school we only take children under the age of 5 we are able to focus all our resources, funds and training on developing the best curriculum and environment for young children. All of our staff are Early Years Specialists, they are extremely knowledgeable about how children learn and child development. We are privileged to have a staff with a real passion for working with young children and a deep sense of commitment to the nursery and its aims.
The emphasis throughout our school is on progress and the development of each child as an individual learner.
Our school has been judged as outstanding in its last 4 Ofsted inspections.
Our most recent inspection in 2014 states that:
“Teaching is outstanding because staff are highly skilled in using their expert knowledge of individual children’s interests, needs and ways of learning to promote rapid progress.” September 2014
Our governing body works to ensure that Staghills Nursery School and Children’s Centre sets high standards by ensuring continuous improvement, helping us to work closely with parents and the local community, and by planning for our future. We work closely with parents and carers to support every child as an individual. We help every child to grow up feeling confident about their identity, in a learning community. We value the diversity in our local community.
The Nursery School is overseen by the Governing Body, including parent governors, who have overall responsibility for ensuring that the school offers the very best standards of early education and care.
